Obituary for Clifford Davenport

Clifford Bruce Davenport was born July 12,1948, to Glen JR Davenport and Mary Aldine (Nicholas) Davenport in Eldon, Missouri. He was the second child and had an older sister named Pamela.

Clifford grew up through the years in Kansas City, Kansas, Bremerton, Washington and around the Harrisonville, Missouri area. Cliff graduated high school in 1966 and started working as a lineman. In April of 1968 Clifford enlisted in the Navy and went to San Diego, California for basic.

After receiving additional training Clifford was sent to Guam to be a structural mechanic on airplanes. Cliff was very good at what he did and had a crew underneath him to get the job done. Cliff was released from the Navy on January 4, 1972 as a Second Class Petty Officer. After returning home Cliff worked in the Shawnee Mission Kansas school district.

In 1977 Cliff started working for General Motors in Kansas City, Missouri. Cliff moved to Archie, Missouri in 1981 and met Tammie Sue Rayl in April of 1982. They were married July 2nd, 1983. They had two boys Daniel JR Davenport and James Ray Davenport. In 1991 General Motors transferred Cliff to Indiana to work at their stamping plant. They raised their boys and lived there until 2008 when Cliff retired. Cliff and Tammie retired to a farm just outside of Anderson, South Carolina.

Cliff went home to Heaven on September 29th, 2022. We miss him so very much but are so blessed to know that he is happy and at peace. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Mary. Also by his son James Ray who was there to greet him in Heaven. Two brother-in-laws have also passed Dennis Robertson and Harry Karg.

Family who are still with us are his wife Tammie of the home, Daniel JR and Rachel Davenport of Parrish, Florida. Five grandchildren Marlee, Madison, Maverick, Cole, and Cora. His sisters Pamela Robertson, Barbara (Donald) Wimsatt, Nicki Karg, Shannon (Edward) Tervol, Belinda (Donald) Cowan, Renea (Steve) Tallman all of Missouri. Plus all his in-laws who thought the world of him.

Cliff was loved by all who knew him and people were blessed to have him in their lives. He was kind, caring, compassionate and always wanted to help others. Cliff loved to make people laugh and would go out of his way to make people's lives better. I was very blessed to have Cliff for 40 years and miss him terribly. But I will see him and Jim again in Heaven and I know they had a beautiful reunion.

So be good to others and tell the people you love how much you care. And know that God is always by your side and will bring you home to be with him and the ones you love.

Clifford Bruce Davenport's service will be at Gethsemane Baptist Temple in Anderson, South Carolina, on October 29, 2022, at 2:00 pm. Everyone is invited to join in to celebrate this amazing man who made others lives better. Especially his wife who loved him so very much.
