Obituary for Emery Smith
(Emery Smith) Charles Emery Smith, 71, of Anderson, died December 3, 2020 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Anderson, SC on March 12, 1949, he was a son of the late Gordon Emory Smith and the late Marjorie Yeargin Smith.
Emery recently retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas in Anderson, after 36 years of service as a Batch Attendant. He loved Clemson Football, NASCAR racing, and was an avid saltwater aquarists.
He is survived by his children, Kevin Smith (Katy), Shannon Smith Wyatt (Shane) and Andrea Smith Phillips (Bobby), grandchildren, Kaleb Smith, Kirsty Whelchel (Justin), Savannah Crisp, Daniel Crisp and Jared Smith, great-grandson, Easton Grey Whelchel, siblings, Billy Smith (Gail), Louise Ford, and Arlene Tilley (Jimmy).
He is also survived by his beloved longtime partner of 26 years, Pam Blackwell Massey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Todd Smith, and his siblings, Nellie Sue Hill, Nina Mae Roof, Danny Ray Smith, and Linda Faye Whitman.
The traditional receiving of friends will not be observed. However family and friends may drop by The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center on Saturday, December 5, 2020 between the hours of 2:00 – 5:00 pm to pay their respects and sign his register book.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 2:00pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson. Rev. Ronnie James will officiate. Family will be available to speak with attendees immediately following the service.
Social distancing is to be observed at all events and face masks are required.
