Bobby Joe McCurley
November 17, 1942 - March 26, 2022
Bobby McCurley, 79, of Anderson, died Saturday, March 26, 2022, at his home, after a brief illness.
Born in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Inman Thomas McCurley, and the late Alice Boles McCurley.
Bobby was in the Army 4th Infantry division and served in Vietnam. He loved to fish, watch NASCAR, Gunsmoke, Rifleman, football, and Braves baseball. He retired from BASF after 30 years and Bryant Pharmacy after 10 years. Bobby went to George’s restaurant almost every day to eat breakfast and enjoy the company of his friends. He attended Covenant Baptist Church.
Bobby is survived by his children; Sharon Holland, Patrick McCurley, and Keith McCurley, along with his grandson, Jamie Holland (Erin), and his great-grandson, Grady Holland. He is also survived by his special friend, Joan Richey, his honorary brother and sister, Terry and Gail Temples, along with many close friends.
Bobby was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Shirley Ann McCurley.
Services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, April 1, 2022, in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Road, Anderson, SC 29625. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00pm - 2:00pm in The Maple Room of The Standard.
Flowers are optional, and memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Association of Anderson, 215 E Calhoun St, Anderson, SC 29621, or to Mission 22 Veterans Suicide Prevention Organization, 694 N Larch St #910, Sisters, OR 97759.
