Obituary for Billy Ray Phillips
Billy Ray Phillips, 86, husband of Annie Ruth Cobb Phillips of Anderson, died Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at AnMed Health Medical Center.
Born in Travelers Rest, S.C. on August 27, 1934, he was a son of the late Omer Brantley Phillips and the late Edna George Phillips.
He retired from Haynesworth Mill in Anderson after many years of service. He attended Gethsemane Baptist Temple in Starr.
In his spare time, Billy Ray loved to hunt, camp and fish and cook for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 65 yrs, Annie Ruth Cobb Phillips, children, Cathy Kennedy (Greg), Rev. Dr. Harold M. Phillips (Corkie), Brian Phillips (Rhonda), Steve Phillips (Kelly) and David T. Phillips (Catherine), 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sisters, Carolyn Craft, and Evelyn Rogers and a sister-in-law, Molly Phillips.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Phillips.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 2:00pm in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center 1621 Pearman Dairy Rd. Anderson, SC 29625. Rev. Sam Duncan and Rev. Dr. Harold M. Phillips will officiate. Burial will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00pm until 2:00pm.
Social distancing is to be observed and face masks are required.
