Obituary for Betty Phillips
Betty Jo Phillips, 85, resident of Anderson, peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Iva Post-Acute.
Born in Georgia, Betty was a daughter of the late Harold and Joyce Alewine.
Betty worked for many businesses in Anderson as an office manager and bookkeeper including R & E Machine Shop where she later retired. Betty was also a faithful member of Forest Hill Baptist Church.
She was survived by a son, Jerry S. Phillips (Crystal) of Anderson, siblings, Johnny White (Janiece) of Anderson and Deborah Turner (Jay) of Anderson. She was also survived by a granddaughter and four great grandchildren.
Betty was predeceased by her first husband, Bennie Phillips, a daughter, Alice Shaw, and a grandson.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, inside of the Tribute Room and The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center with Rev. Tom Owen and Rev. Robbie Smith officiating.
The family will have a visitation prior to her service from 12:00 to 1:00 PM in the Maple Room at The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to a charity of one’s choice.
