Betty Patterson
June 27, 1935- February 14, 2023

Betty Inez Gibson Patterson, 87, of Anderson, widow of the late Louis Emerson Patterson, died February 14, 2023, at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late Ezra Jack Gibson, and the late Lizzie Lou Callaham Gibson.

Betty, a homemaker, enjoyed spending time with Louis, reading her Bible, gardening, cooking, and traveling to new places. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church of Seneca, SC.

Betty is survived by her children: James Lamar “Jim” Patterson (Marie), of Elko, Nevada, and Renee Patterson Cain (Tim), of Anderson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rebecca Mae Patterson Carnes (Joseph), Joseph Louis Patterson, Martin Emerson Cain, and great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Patterson.

Additionally, Betty is survived by her sisters, Patricia Kimmell, Sonja Penland, Brenda Greer, and Elaine Prater.

Along with her parents, and husband of 67 years, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack Gibson, Jr., and Billy Gibson, as well as her identical twin sister, Peggy Wise.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Monday, February 20, 2023, in the Tribute Room at The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Road, Anderson, SC, 29625. Rev. Dr. Mike Moody, and Rev. Alvin Crooks will officiate.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00am until 11, in the Maple Room at The Standard.
