Bass Willard
November 18, 1993 - February 26, 2023
We are saddened to announce Bass Hammett Willard, 29 , of Ware Shoals passed away unexpectedly on February 26, 2023, but remains forever in our hearts.
He was born November 18,1993. He was the only child of Charles "Gene" Willard and Anita Hammett Willard.
Bass was preceded in death by grandparents, Rev. William Willard of Ware Shoals and Thomas Hammett of Lyman.
Bass is survived by grandmothers Sybil Willard of NHC, Greenwood and Margaret Hammett of Lyman. Bass leaves behind aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss him dearly.
Bass lived most of his life with bipolar disorder. We mention this only in hope to break down the stigmas that surround mental illness. He would not let the challenges of the disease define him. He was so much more. He was a loving son and caring friend. His smile could light up a room. He knew how to lift friends' spirits and make them smile. He was always helping out a friend in need with a plate of food, a ride or even his last dollar. He loved art, photography, and all animals. His fur baby "Elvira" misses him so. He was a passionate "thinker" and very intelligent. In his short time here he touched many lives who remember him as thoughtful, caring with a kind and gentle soul. We will remember the good days and good times. We have been blessed to call this unique soul who "marched to the beat of his own drum" our son. Thank You to all the friends, family, and folks we don't even know who loved our son and will miss him too.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 12, 2023, at 3:30 p.m., at Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church, 11570 Indian Mound Rd, Ware Shoals, SC 29692. Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop will officiate.
The family will speak to guests following the service.
To remember Bass you could donate to your local homeless shelter, meals on wheels or Humane society. Rescue a special pet that needs some love. You may be surprised by the love returned.
