Albert “Gene” Lawrence
October 11, 1926 - June 7, 2022
Albert Eugene Lawrence, 95, resident of Iva, widower of Beverly Hall Lawrence, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.
Born in Elbert County, GA, on October 11, 1926, Gene was a son of the late Lewis Irwin Lawrence and Hattie Daisy Cooley Lawrence.
Gene served in the US Navy where he became a member of the Seabees unit during WWII. Upon completing his years of service, Gene began working with Jackson Mills and later retired as a supervisor after 42 years of service.
He is survived by a daughter, Betty “BJ” Cheek (Joe) of Iva, and a son, James Lawrence (Ann) of Iva. Gene is also survived by his two granddaughters, Lisa Lollis (Tim), Lynn Dickerson (Charlie), and his three great grandchildren, Caleb Lollis, Ryan Lollis, and Allie Dickerson. The family would also like to mention a special cousin, Luanne Reeder, and a special friend, Richard Stone.
Gene was preceded in death by his siblings, John Lawrence, Wilbur Lawrence, Francis Davis, Genell Blume, and Maylene Gunner.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Saturday June 11, 2022, at Iva City Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Gray officiating.
The family will be at their respective homes.
