Al Hernandez
June 9, 1930 - April 12, 2022

Albert Joseph Hernandez, 91, husband of Cheryl W. Hernandez, of Anderson, passed from death unto life on, April 12, 2022, at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Harrow, Ontario Canada, on June 9, 1930, he was a son of the late Walter Hernandez and the late Emma Proot Hernandez.

As a young man, he served in the Royal Canadian Army and moved to The United States around 1979, to work in the building industry, from which he ultimately retired.

Al was an active member of Temple Baptist Church, in Anderson, S.C., where he loved serving The Lord with all his heart. He was a greeter at the church and had a special burden for mission work to the people of Israel. Throughout his lifetime, he has served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and did missions work in Jamacia. He was also a former member of The Rotary Club and served on the board of ROGMA.

Al was a very loving and personable man who was loved by many people, and they will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl W. Hernandez, children, Patricia Tuft (Wayne), Melody Pieters (Randy), Barry Hernandez (Kathy), Cheri Rickwood, Brandon Bailey, and Kim Phillips (Lanny), and brothers, Gary Hernandez, and Daniel Hernandez.

He is also survived by his 47 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren as well as his Temple Baptist Church family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sons, Richard and Bryan Hernandez and his siblings, and Mary Hedges, Joyce Ford, Sandra Burke, Donald Hernandez.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm, on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Temple Baptist Church, 2905 Standridge Rd., Anderson, S.C. 29625. Rev. Dr. Steve Hurt, Rev. Lanny Phillips, and Rev. Mark Pollard will officiate. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of Temple Baptist Church, prior to the service, from 1:30pm – 3:00pm.
